RCB was defeated by RR by a score of six wickets, suffering their third straight loss.
Former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop caused a stir on Saturday, April 6, when he made remarks against Virat Kohli on the radio. The incident happened during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) IPL 2024 match. Notably, despite hitting a tonne of runs, Kohli was criticised for his comparatively poor strike rate. The 35-year-old finished with an undefeated 113 off 72 balls and a strike rate of 156.94, having crossed the three-figure threshold in 67 balls.
Commenting, Bishop commended the former captain of the RCB for reaching fifty off just 39 balls. Fans on social media, however, took issue with his praise, pointing out that it was considered below standard to get a half-century in 39 balls in a T20 competition, especially on a batting-friendly track.
On X, a fan said, “@irbishi stated only 39 deliveries.” Someone needs to inform Vitor after he completes his 50 that the IPL is a 20-over competition rather than a 50. Even when you are being paid to commend prominent athletes, calling 39 balls 50 on a batting course a joke is still inappropriate.

In response, Bishop expressed gratitude for the criticism and acknowledged that his word choice had been incorrect.
“Trust me, I know exactly what it takes to bat in this style. I used words that weren’t correct. I’m responsible for it. I am not the devil yet, but I am not. However, I appreciate your input. It’s much appreciated,” he responded.
