Suryakumar Yadav declared

Reports: NCA has deemed Suryakumar Yadav fit and available for selection in MI’s upcoming match vs DC.

In December 2023, Suryakumar Yadav suffered an ankle injury that required surgery in London to repair a hernia.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have some good news after a catastrophic start to their Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) campaign: star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been cleared to play in the current season. Notably, during the third Twenty20 International against South Africa in December 2023, the daring batter who has been a key member of the Mumbai Indians lineup for some years sustained a grade II injury in his ankle.

After that, he had to have a hernia operation in London, and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru served as his rehabilitation center. The 33-year-old was consequently declared ineligible for the season’s opening games since NCA had not given him the all-clear about his fitness. He has, however, finally received the all-clear to be included in the lineup for the five-time winners, and he is expected to be available for Sunday, April 7, Mumbai’s game against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium.

He is now fit. He had to play a couple of practice games for the NCA, but he looked good. He is able to sign with the Mumbai Indians. We wanted to make sure Surya was completely well and prepared to play games when he returned to Michigan. We waited to see whether there was any pain while he was batting because he wasn’t feeling 100% at his initial fitness test prior to the IPL, a BCCI source confirmed to IndianExpress.

Suryakumar’s most recent international innings saw him reach a hundred.

Suryakumar also shared a video of himself on the NCA practice court on his Instagram account. The Mumbai-born batter, who now holds the top ranking in T20Is with 861 ratings, is a valuable member of the Indian team that will compete in the T20 World Cup in 2024.
