As the Bengaluru-based team enters its 18th season without winning the title, they have been the target of several critiques and are always the subject of jokes and memes on social media.
Rashid Latif, a former cricket player for Pakistan, has added his thoughts on RCB and their prospects of winning the illusive league to the already crowded field.
Will RCB win the 2025 Indian Premier League?
Regarding RCB’s prospects of winning the league, Rashid Latif told Geo TV that it will only occur in the post-MS Dhoni era. He emphasised Dhoni’s influence on CSK’s IPL triumph in his remarks. Under Dhoni’s leadership, CSK has won the IPL championship five times.

“Till MS Dhoni is there in CSK, don’t even think RCB can touch the IPL trophy,” said Latif.
However, former opener Ahmed Shehzad believed that if Mohammad Amir played for RCB in 2026, they may win the trophy.
“If Amir plays for RCB, they could win the IPL title,” stated Shehzad.
Interestingly, Amir wants to secure a UK visa so that he may bid on the auction as his wife is a UK citizen. Because he is British, Azhar Mahmood has played in the IPL before.
What was RCB’s performance over the past IPL seasons?
In the past, RCB has placed second three times: in 2009, 2011, and 2016. In nine separate seasons, they have also advanced to the last four.
