At the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, India crushed the Netherlands by 160 runs thanks to outstanding centuries from Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.
India got off to a thrilling start thanks to openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who won the toss and decided to bat first. Before the latter was brilliantly caught by Teja Nidamanuru on the boundary line off Paul van Meekeren for 51, the two accumulated 100 runs for the first wicket.
Wesley Barresi caught Rohit (61) at long on as he attempted to take on Bas de Leede. Before Roelof van der Merwe bowled the former after he missed a one that slipped on for 51, he and Shreyas Iyer scored 71 runs for the third wicket.
Alongside KL Rahul, Shreyas contributed to another incredible 208-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Rahul broke Rohit Sharma’s 63-ball record against Afghanistan in Delhi earlier in this tournament with a century off just 62 balls. In their 50 overs, the Men in Blue amassed an enormous score of 410/4.
When wicketkeeper Rahul caught Wesley Barresi (4) behind the stumps, Mohammed Siraj gave the opposition an early lead.
Max O’Dowd (30) and Colin Ackermann (35) had a 61-run partnership for the second wicket before Ackermann was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav while trying to complete a sweep.
O’Dowd was subsequently dismissed for 30 when Ravindra Jadeja delivered a peach off a delivery.
Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, was caught down leg by KL Rahul behind the wickets, becoming Kohli’s victim.
Then, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Bas de Leede (12) with a superb yorker.
Before being removed by Rohit while trying a huge shot, Teja Nidamanuru (54) offered some resistance with a breezy 39-ball-54. In 47.5 overs, the Dutch were ultimately bowled out for 250.
The Men in Blue went undefeated in the league stage with this victory.
