Twitter Reactions: Sunil Narine kills the RCB in Bengaluru with a 22-ball 47

Sunil Narine, a pinch hitter, was moved up the order and started the inning as KKR came out to pursue.

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squared off in Match 10 of the Indian Premier League 2024. After winning the toss, KKR chose to bowl first. RCB managed to score a respectable 182 runs despite their bowlers’ admirable efforts to limit the run flow in the middle overs. In order to chase, KKR put Sunil Narine, a pinch hitter, up the order to start the inning alongside Phil Salt.

From the moment she said “go,” Narine was inaccurate. The commentators had mentioned before the innings began that the surface was slowing down, therefore the bowlers from Bengaluru decided not to take the ball’s pace. The Caribbean all-rounder hit a slap through mid-off to start his innings, and Yash Dayal was unable to change his direction. After hitting two straight sixes in a single over, he sent Alzarri Joseph to the dry cleaners.

When Siraj bowled the fifth ball of the innings, he attempted a slower delivery, but Narine was ready and expected it, so he hit him for a six. The cherry on top arrived when Faf du Plessis trusted Dayal to bowl the last over of the powerplay, as he was once again under the opener’s notice.

20 runs are scored by Narine off of Yash Dayal’s over.
On the opening delivery of the over, Dayal was smashed for a four by the seasoned KKR spinner. The next delivery, he hit for a six to deep mid-wicket. He hit a six after he let go of another loose ball. The hitter misplayed a flip to the fifth ball of the over, which raced towards the fine-leg fence.

In the middle of the tightly packed Chinnaswamy, he appeared decisive after scoring 20 runs off of the final five balls he played. But just when the hosts were getting a break, Mayank Dagar entered the fray. The experienced all-rounder was prevented from opening his arms by the RCB spinner, who maintained a tight line. After hitting 47 off of 22, Dagar bowled a yorker the very next ball, and the part-time hitter did not put his bat down.
