Speedster Matheesha Pathirana of Sri Lanka has been injured, which has dealt a serious setback to the Chennai Super Kings.
“Chennai Super Kings pacer Matheesha Pathirana is nursing a hamstring injury and will be returning to Sri Lanka for further recovery,” according to an announcement from CSK.
Throughout the competition, Pathirana was CSK’s most effective bowler, taking 13 wickets at an economy rate of 7.68.
With Deepak Chahar also sustaining a major injury that would likely keep him out of the season, it only makes CSK’s problems worse.
After a mediocre start to the season, CSK is presently at fifth in the standings.
