After more than ten years of play, Afghanistan batsman Noor Ali Zadran announced on Thursday, March 7, that he was retiring from international cricket. 51 ODIs, 23 T20Is, and 2 Tests all included him in the lineup.
The recent one-off Test match between Afghanistan and Ireland marked Noor Ali’s last outing for his country. He finished with an average of 24.81 for 1216 runs in ODIs and 27.13 for 597 runs in T20Is in white-ball forms.
When Afghanistan played its first One-Day International (ODI) against Scotland in April 2009, Noor Ali’s brilliant 28-ball 45 set the tone for victory. His quick transition into T20Is further demonstrated his adaptability as a cricketer.
His 2010 T20 World Cup half-century against India was one of his career highlights. After his comeback in 2023, he was called up for the T20Is at the Asian Games, where his standout performances enabled Afghanistan to defeat India in the final.
