Marumani, Akram recalled for Bangladesh T20Is

For the forthcoming five-match Twenty20 International series in Bangladesh, Zimbabwe has called up Tadiwanashe Marumani and Faraz Akram. The son of former captain Alistair Campbell, Jonathan Campbell, is an uncapped player in the 15-man group that Sikandar Raza will continue to captain.

The remaining players are the same as the group who went on a January tour of Sri Lanka, where they split the series after winning a game to tie it before losing the final. Campbell received recognition for his contribution to the Zimbabwe Emerging Players team’s gold medal success in the African Games last month.

In addition, Clive Madande and Brian Bennett, who were in the Emerging Players team, are still on the senior team. In the absence of a head coach, former player Stuart Matsikenyeri will lead Zimbabwe in this series.

The first three games of the series are slated to take place in Chattogram starting on May 3. In Dhaka, the final two games will take place. Bangladesh will benefit greatly from this series as they get ready for the T20 World Cup in June. Zimbabwe, though, was not able to make it to the world tournament.
