Bangladesh, who are now ranked eighth in the ICC men’s Test team rankings, defeated Sri Lanka in their most recent Test series in March. The two-Test home series ended in a 0-2 loss for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is currently in seventh place in the WTC 2023–25 rankings after recording one victory and three defeats.

After declaring himself ready for selection last month, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been added to the team.
Following their respective recovery from injury, right-arm bowler Taskin Ahmed and veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim have both returned to the Test team.
