“Penn State has successfully persuaded athletes headed to the NFL to remain on college and compete for a national championship this autumn, following in the footsteps of Big Ten rivals Michigan and Ohio State. The Buckeyes invested $20 million NIL in its athletes in 2024 after the Wolverines did the same in 2023, and Penn State is now attempting to give the Big Ten a third consecutive national championship by adopting a similar model.
The term that matters is “blueprint.” Although hiring Knowles is a tremendous move toward defensive excellence in the years to come, it might not be worth it if it’s only to exact revenge on his former company.

Franklin has only won one Big Ten Championship throughout his career and is currently searching for his first national championship. However, the squad this year could be his greatest to date. In contrast to Ohio State’s acquisition of Will Howard through the transfer portal, the Nittany Lions’ seasoned presence in Allar will only benefit him going forward as he tries to win a title one final time.
Only time will tell for the time being.
