In Ahmedabad, PBKS defeats GT by three wickets.
In Thursday’s Indian Premier League 2024 Match 17 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings traded punches. After winning the toss, PBKS chose to bat on a pitch that had a mixture of red and black soil. When Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha, the GT openers, began hitting boundaries, they meant business. But Saha left the game after making eleven, and Kane Williamson’s return left him with just 26 runs off 22 balls to show off.
Nevertheless, the GT captain persisted, and Sai Sudharsan appeared to be in excellent form the entire innings. Together, they stitched together a 53-run partnership before Sudharsan left for 33 off 19. With just eight runs to his credit, Vijay Shankar made minimal effort, but Rahul Tewatia proved why he is regarded as an underappreciated finisher. With just eight deliveries and a rapid 23 runs, the southpaw helped GT reach a high score of 199 despite losing four wickets.

Shashank Singh prevails in the thrilling final over against PBKS
After Shikhar Dhawan left, the PBKS top order trembled and scored one run. Jonny Bairstow scored 22 runs, continuing his habit of hammering the ball. During his 35 runs off 24 balls, Parbhsimran Singh played with caution to the fullest, opening his arms at regular intervals. Sam Curran only managed to score five runs when batting further up in the order. However, it was Shashank Singh’s performances as a whole that took the field at number five.
He and Jitesh Sharma gave broken PBKS the much-needed assistance. After their crucial 39-run stand together, ominous clouds reappeared as Jitesh left. With a scorching 31 off 17 from Ashutosh Sharma, Punjab was back in the game. Shashank hit a boundary off the fourth delivery of the last over, needing seven runs to win, and with three wickets and one ball left, the visiting team was all but done.
