Due to their poor overrate, both New Zealand and England have been punished some of their match costs as the first Test between them draws to a close. They have also lost some important World Test Championship (WTC) points.
New Zealand had a chance, but England is already out from consideration for the last berth. However, New Zealand’s prospects of making it to the June final the following year are severely harmed by the existing point deduction.

Even if New Zealand wins their remaining Test matches in the series against England, their current points percentage of 47.92 will only allow them to rise to 55.36%. The Kiwis are now in fifth place in the rankings, down from joint-fourth.
Both teams have lost important WTC points and were penalized 15% of their match expenses. They now have a difficult challenge to do in order to advance to the WTC final in June 2025.
If they want to get it to the WTC final at Lord’s, they must defeat England in the following two Test matches. After accounting for time, it was discovered that both teams were three overs shy of their goal.

When New Zealand recently shocked India by beating them 3-0 at home, they had a great time. Their prospects of making it to the WTC final had significantly increased after the victory. However, their chances have been significantly impacted by the new sanctions.

Furthermore, the Kiwis suffered a devastating defeat to England in the opening Test of the series. They simply couldn’t keep ahead of the game and weren’t at their best. the visiting England team and won by a landslide.
The Kiwis’ lone bright spot was Kane Williamson, who made a magnificent announcement about his return to form. Despite making two half-centuries during the game, Williamson was unable to lead his team home.
In the meanwhile, England made a number of very good knocks. Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope both played crucial innings, and Harry Brook hit a spectacular century. Brydon Carse, a fast bowler, struck a vital 33* and took 10 wickets during the game.
Wellington will host the second Test starting on December 6, and the home team will be looking to mount a strong comeback.
