Times Internet owns the cricket news website Cricbuzz. It offers news, stories, and real-time cricket match coverage along with player information, team rankings, written commentary, and videos. They have a mobile app on their website as well.
One of the most widely used smartphone applications for cricket news and scores is Cricbuzz.In 2014, the website ranked eighth in India in terms of searches. More than 50 million people use the website, which generated 2.6 billion page views in January 2015, and the mobile app has over 100 million downloads as of February 2022.
History
Pankaj Chhaparwal, Piyush Agrawal, and Pravin Hegde founded Cricbuzz in 2004.Cricbuzz began creating a mobile app for live cricket scores and news in 2010.
For an unknown amount, Times Internet, a division of Times of India, purchased the bulk of Cricbuzz in November 2014. The original creators are still in charge of running the website.
GoCricket, owned by Times Internet, was combined with Cricbuzz in January 2015. The GoCricket mobile app was combined with Cricbuzz’s, and the GoCricket website was redirected to Cricbuzz.
Since hiring Harsha Bhogle as their “Voice of Cricket” in September 2016, Cricbuzz has collaborated with the renowned pundit and cricket specialist on more than 150 videos.
Cricbuzz was announced as the official sponsor of the India-Sri Lanka test series in August 2015. According to reports from the second quarter of 2019, Cricbuzz was the second most downloaded news app worldwide.
A sister pay television cricket channel and streaming service in the United States and Canada, Willow, was merged into Cricbuzz in April 2024 in advance of the 2024 Indian Premier League.
The service was renamed “Willow by Cricbuzz” and its subscription content, which included regional rights to the IPL and ICC tournaments, among other properties, was made available through the Cricbuzz app.
