New Zealand spinner Adam Milne missed the most recent One-Day Internationals against England because of a “low grade hamstring injury.” It has been taken over by Ben Lister, who was called up.
New Zealand Cricket said in a statement that Milne “suffered hamstring tightness at training in Cardiff before yesterday’s opening ODI, and a subsequent scan revealed he would need a period of rehabilitation.”
The statement went on to say that Milne would stay in England to continue his recovery before the team’s trip to Bangladesh for a series of ODIs later this month. Due to a hamstring issue, Milne was forced to leave the series against Pakistan and India in January of this year.
In the opening game of a four-game series between New Zealand and England played over five days, the visitors overcame the home team. Despite the fact that Lister was already in England for County duty, he was called up.
It is said that head coach Gary Stead said, “We have short turnarounds between these matches and want to try and look after the players as much as possible with the upcoming schedule.”
Ben didn’t have to wait as long to improve as a bowler who had to fly in from New Zealand in the middle of a series because he was already in England.
“Ben impressed us in the UAE and in the warm-up matches in England, and he will continue to learn being around some senior players in the touring group,” continued Stead.
