Afghanistan had previously won the first two One Day Internationals despite Bangladesh dismissing Afghanistan for 126 in the third and final game of the three-match series at Cartogram to defeat Afghanistan by 7 wickets.
After winning the toss, Afghanistan decided to bat first, however the top order swiftly crumbled under the pressure of Bangladesh’s opening bowlers. After Taskin added two more dismissals, Afghanistan was in trouble at 15-4 when Shariful Islam took two of them in his first over.
Shakib Al Hasan stood out when the spinners came into the game because he bowled a really controlled spell, allowing only 13 runs in 10 overs for one wicket. Azmatullah Omarzai established partnerships with the final three wickets to boost the total to 126 after Afghanistan had slumped to 68-7.
Omarzai persisted and made a difficult fifty to raise Afghanistan’s overall score.
The Bangladeshi batsman lost a wicket right away, but they were still able to complete the chase quickly. As a result of Farooqi’s removal of Mohammad Naim and Shanto for 11 and a duck, respectively, Bangladesh is now two down for 28.
With more than half the overs left to be played, Towhid Hridoy brought the inning to a close, earning the visitors a 2-1 series victory. The 61 runs scored by Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan in their strong 61-run combination, though, gave the visitors the victory.
The team’s head to Sylhet to play two T20Is next, on July 14 and 16.
