KL After putting Jake Fraser-McGurk on a long-on, Rahul was rewarded right away as the Australian hit his first big hit of the over and got caught for a duck. After striking three fours off Mohsin Khan in the second over, Abishek Porel and Shai Hope swiftly moved on. Porel hammered Arshad Khan for three fours and a six in an over that cost him 21 runs after he had dismissed the opener. Hope then made the decision to match his youthful batting partner for strokes, hitting Yudhvir Singh for two fours and a six to boost DC to fifty runs in just four overs. Porel hit four of the five sixes that DC hit during this time, demonstrating his ongoing ability to bat for the fences.

Porel made a 21-ball fifty, but Ravi Bishnoi’s (1 for 26) rather frugal bowling meant that this period belonged to the bowling side. As DC slowed down, the leggie made excellent use of tempo and his googly, an often-used variant. Additionally, Bishnoi dismissed Hope to conclude the exciting second-wicket stand. After an expensive opening over in the PowerPlay, Rahul summoned in Naveen, and the Afghan struck quickly to cap up Porel’s outstanding effort at 58 off 33, with five fours and four sixes. Although Krunal gave Rishabh Pant a couple of fours, Mohsin Khan bowled a five-run over to limit the scoring.
Overstrikes: Stubbs propels DC over 200

With 7 (9) going into the 16th over, Tristan Stubbs concluded with an undefeated 57 (25), tonking away to help DC surpass 200 runs. He began the over by hitting a delivery from Arshad Khan and finished it with two consecutive fours. The DC captain was dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq in the 17th over, but Stubbs didn’t stop swinging the bat, adding 50 with Axar Patel, who made just 10 for the partnership. The South African was so angry that even Mohsin Khan, who bowled three solid overs, took a six and a four off him. Naveen, who finished with a forgettable stint of 2 for 51 after giving up two sixes and a four in his final over, had much more in store. With 252 runs at an SR of 262.5 in the death overs in IPL, Stubbs now has the most runs.

KL Ishant Sharma was getting the ball to swing, but Rahul misplayed his first major shot of the game, falling in the first over. The struggling Quinton de Kock was subsequently removed by Ishant with a slower shot that the South African smacked to mid-on. Marcus Stoinis was stumped after deciding to lay down the marker against spin and giving Axar the first ball to charge. After walking off the pitch, Nicholas Pooran used his fortunate position against left-arm spinners by hitting two sixes and two fours in one over. Ishant continued to make significant inroads on the lofty chase after dismissing Deepak Hooda in the following over.

After Ayush Badoni left the game shortly earlier, Pooran began the phase by switch-hitting Kuldeep Yadav for a six. In the ninth over, he reached 20-ball 50. The Pooran vs. DC mini-duel continued into the midway point till Axar ended the thrilling knock at 61 off just 27 balls (6×4, 4×6) with a crisp, low one-handed grab at cover off Mukesh Kumar. Following Pooran’s departure, Arshad Khan and Krunal Pandya tossed their bats around for 23 runs in the next two overs, demonstrating that the chase was still ongoing as DC made inroads. After Kuldeep stumped Axar in his final over, the lower order had to chase 74 off 30.

Despite his best efforts, Arshad Khan was unable to bring the chase to a close since LSG lacked sufficient batters to solve the large equation. After Yudhvir Singh smashed two sixes and a four off Rasikh Salam, Khaleel bowled him out after Arshad struck two sixes and a four. LSG had eight down, but 42 off 18 was a manageable equation. Arshad once more attempted to get Salam to drop to 29 off 12, but just six runs were scored in a superb penultimate over bowled by Mukesh Kumar, which saw Ravi Bishnoi run out. Arshad attempted to get 23 out of the final six balls by taking a strike. Salam was right to tell him otherwise.
