In Match 14 of the IPL 2024, the Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians will play at the Wankhede Stadium.
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will see the five-time champion Mumbai Indians play their first home game of the 2024 season at Wankhede Stadium against the inaugural season’s winners, Rajasthan Royals, who will also be playing away from home for the first time this edition.
Both sides have a great deal riding on this particular match, and for very different reasons. The visitors would be hoping to win three straight games to climb back to the top of the standings, while the home squad, who has yet to win a game this season, is now in tenth place.
The official RR account on X announced Michael Vaughan, the former English cricket player who is now a broadcaster, as their social media head on the eve of the much-anticipated match. Due to his quick wit and tongue-in-cheek remarks, Vaughan is often seen as humorous and amusing. He is especially well-liked on social media and during commentary. Vaughan shared the news with a selfie of himself sitting in front of a table, wearing the RR jersey, in front of his laptop, with a water bottle behind the device.

In response, Vaughan posted a panoramic selfie of himself taken from his hotel room at The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai. He was seen giving the camera a thumbs up while the gorgeous Gateway of India was visible in the background. A throng of people could be seen swarming around the monument. As the head of social media, Vaughan captioned the photo, expressing his happiness at being courted by the “biggest franchise” and urging his fans and the public to follow RR’s account in order to stay up to speed on excellent material. Even while the news seems genuine, it’s most likely a practical joke on April Fool’s Day.
The following is the tweet introducing Michael Vaughan as RR’s IPL 2024 social media director:
Having won the toss, Rajasthan Royals choose to field first.
The Mumbai Indians were set to bat first by the Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals, who also won the toss and substituted Nandre Burger for Sandeep Sharma. Regarding MI, right-arm medium pacer Akash Madhwal replaces left-arm spinner Shams Mulani.
